FYA is seeking a Treasurer
FYA is a small youth arts organisation that was set up in January 2006 and that became a charity in May 2007. We are a quickly becoming a leading organisation in youth led engagement in youth arts production and media across London and beyond.

The FYA Board meet quarterly in London. Please note that we have an independent firm of accountants working with us on audits, year-end accounts and the monthly payroll as well as a financial administrator who works two days per month.

We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference to the lives of young people and at the same time wishes to help to establish a sustainable charity. We are ideally looking for someone who has run their own business, either for profit or not for profit.

Job Specification:
1. To oversee the finances of FYA.
2. To check the quarterly accounts and to respond if there are any questions or queries.
3. To ensure that finance systems are robust and transparent and meet the requirements of Companies House and the Charities Commission.
4. To work closely with the chief executive to update and maintain financial systems
5. To assist in the yearly audit.

Key Skills:
Essential
1. Understanding of cash flows and budgets.
2. Able to use excel.
3. Understanding of business taxes.
4. Experience of running own business or have managed the finances of a for profit or not for profit business.

Preferable:
1. Knowledge of Sage software package.
2. An understanding of the charitable sector.

Person Specification:
1. Are able to meet at quarterly meetings in London.
2. Have an interest in the arts and young people.
3. Are willing to take on a fledgling organisation and contribute to its eventual sustainability.
4. Are patient and enthusiastic .
