Aim The Festival of Youth Arts exists to give young people the opportunity to showcase their creative skills and to support the development of their creative passion. To achieve this, FYA works with young people, youth groups, established arts venues and arts organisations to give unique experiences and opportunities to young people. Ultimately FYA aims to highlight how talented and passionate young people are and thereby create a greater value for youth arts amongst all its stakeholders. FYA has developed two programmes that facilitate and support young people in designing, developing and delivering their own arts events. Our mobile youth arts programme was delivered in 5 London boroughs in 2007. This works on a local level with young people who want to learn how to promote and produce their own event. The artist development programme engages young people who are at the cusp of a professional career. In 2007 this group of young people delivered events in Trafalgar Square, Hackney Empire, Rich Mix, Jongleurs and Carling Academy Islington. Structure FYA is a charity run by a few individuals very determined to improving the opportunities for and respect given to the creative work of young people. |
FYA has a number of partners.
It is through collaboration that FYA is able to hold an annual festival.
Such collaboration is also a means to and end in creating a greater cohesion amongst all the people directly and indirectly involved with the youth arts sector.
